VACCINES
simplified....
We do remember.. When we are infected by chicken pox once, we will not be infected again. Ever wondered why?
Antibodies(simple term-immunity) produced in our body during the first infection stays there lifelong which help us to fight the rest of the consequent infections. Likewise, the so called Super Humans thought about it and came forth with the discovery of "VACCINES"-a major breakthrough in science. BOOM...
WHAT is vaccine?
The above said same story again but now artificially which means injecting or orally administering some microbes/its constituents in non infective form to induce immunity.
Now immunity generated serves as the frontier as if the soldiers are prepared enough to face the danger.
some vaccines are super effective in single dose whereas some require booster doses.
WHERE is the source?
Obviously, the source is from the one who attack. But here the attacker is made to obey us.
Vaccines are derived from the microbe (bacteria/virus);
* If it is live, it is attenuated (made to lose virulence-the power of attacking, but the ability to produce immunity is retained).
* Can be inactivated/ killed.
*Some of the vaccines use only a part of the microbe(subunit vaccines); can be toxoid/ protein/polysaccharide/conjugate.
WHY should we vaccinate?
Imagine two situations in which a state is prepared and preplanned to meet a disaster where as the other doesn't have a plan to face it. The loss is greater in the latter and thus the conclusion. It is safe to be prepared and to prepare our immune system to be ready for the existing dreadful diseases.
None can assure for one getting vaccinated for a particular disease will never get that again (because as a part of evolution, microbes change themselves and that's complicated) but the severity of that particular disease is drastically reduced and most severe forms of the disease are very much controlled in vaccinated individuals.
2 small pricks on vaccination can save 100s of needle pricks during treatment. Stay safe!
